One of the most active and creative duo on the Asian indie scene, ‘10’ is coming to Videotage to present an exclusive concert in Hong Kong as part of their China Tour 2010 in July.

Itta and Marqido are two previously solo experimental musicians who paired up in 2005 to form ‘10’. Creating electro-acoustic and psychedelic acousmatic soundscape by laptop, Marqido is a Japanese noise artist with psychedelic and avant-garde influence. Itta is a Korean vocalist who produces music by melodica, piano, accordion, drum kit, mini synthesizer, traditional miniature instruments, and numerous toy instruments, together with her voice.

Organically combining elements of pop, noise, childlike vocals, and electronica, ‘10’ blends all sound perfectly together and render an intricate melody and performance which is ironic, explosive, unexpected but harmonious. Their dynamic compositions and free improvisations conjugate an assortment of instruments and various art forms that transport the audience to a cinematic sci-fi fantasyland.

About’10′

The international duo ‘10’ was formed in 2005. Their name marks the date they met, October 10th, and also symbolizes their union. Members include South-Korean new wave avant-garde musician itta and Japanese noise creator Marqido, both also active as solo-artists. Their name ’10′ is composed of two figures: ’1′ + ’0′ – ‘1’ from itta’s existence, ‘0’ from Marqido’s Maru (means ‘cycle’).

‘10’ based in Korea and toured in US, Europe and all over Asia. They have performed internationally in events such as In Famous Carousel Festival (2007) in France, Experimentaclub 07 in Spain, Mini Midi (2006, 2007, 2008), DIAF (2006), 2pi Festival (2007) in China and numbers of arts festivals in Korea. Their collaborators include Li Jianhong, Carsick Cars, White, Shenggy, Shou Wang, Yan Jun, Wu Fei, Li Daiguo, FM3, Dickson Dee, Xiao He, Torturing Nurse, Mafeisan, D!O!D!O!D!, Keiji Haino, Lightning Bolt, Xiu Xiu, Zs, ioioi, Sato Yukie, Jin Sangtae…
