Screening: Mogwai x Zidane – A 21st Century Portrait +
Forum: Interaction of Sound, Music and Moving Images

Zidane, A 21st Century Portrait is a documentary film by British artist Douglas Gordon in which the main subject is French football star Zinedine Zidane. With realtime synchronized cameras, the film depicts Zidane in a match between the Spanish Liga Real Madrid and Villarreal CF on April 23, 2005.

With a soundtrack provided by the Scottish post-rock giant Mogwai, the film sucessfully incorporates non-narrative images with cinematic experimental music.

In this event, we’re going to screen the 90 min film and have a little discussion after the screening. Those of you who are interested in experimental video-making and experimental music, don’t miss it! It’s a great chance to share your thoughts on the relationship between experimental sound-making and video art. If you’re at the same time fans of Zidane, you definitely don’t have excuses not joining this insightful event!
