Art Festival
06/09/1999 - 26/01/2000

The Queensland Art Gallery’s internationally acclaimed Asia-Pacific Triennial of Cntemporary Art (APT) is back! More than an exhibition, APT3 includes an international conference, artists’ talks, perfromances, publications, a Kids’ APT, the Virtual Triennial online exhibition, and a curated Screen Cultre program of video, short film and animation.

Responding to current issues in the Asia-Pacific region, the artworks in APT3 cover a wide range of media including photography, video, CD-ROM, Internet, painting, textiles, ceramics, sculpture, installation and performance, with many works offering opportunities for audience interaction. Among the many highlights are 99 aluminium boats, filled with blue flame, winding down the Brisbane River on the opening night; an entire room adorned with delicate clay and straw sculptural figure; a fighter plane made entirely of photographs; travel agency offering virtual trips; a breathtaking 24-metre bamboo bridge suspended across the Water Mall and many more engaging and innovative artworks.
