Street artists getting in! Addressing the issue of public/private space, artists Bigmad, graphicairlines and Start From Zero will speak out their view against capitalism, government’s control over the public, city space and system, on the walls of Videotage demonstrating various street art tools and media including paint, spray, stencils, stickers, wheatpaste and so. Both of the sessions on 27th and 28th are open for public viewing and discussion on related topics. FREE ADMISSION. Bring your own drinks and snacks for the laid-back afternoons. The completed works will stay on the wall until convention doesn’t allow them to anymore.

Cute we are not. The characters created by design duo Graphic Airlines champion the “aesthetics of ugly”. Tat & Vi joined force in 2002 and have since become stalwarts of Hong Kong’s burgeoning street art scence. Apart from publishing and exhibiting their work since 2006, the pair produces their own design of hand-made products.

About Start From Zero

“Start From Zero” was founded by a Hong Kong local street artist – Dom.
START stands for STreet ART, STencil ART and STicker ART.

The are two meanings of “Start From Zero”:
1. He started performing street art from nothing, i.e. “zero; I hope that when someone see my stickers, they will be like me, start doing street art from “zero”.
2. It can be a slogan for encouraging people when they are unhappy, down or miserable. He also wants people to remind their friends of this slogan when the same things happen.
Apart from using stickers, “Start From Zero” also uses weep pastes, spraying on stencils with different characters and illustrations to convey his message on streets. “Start From Zero” does solo street art as well as collaboration street art. He is an active member of a Hong Kong Street Art crew – ST/ART. Besides performing street art, “Start From Zero” will release various products, T-shirts, badges, caps and other accessories. Performative Book Launch by Manu Luksch]

Love, Piracy, and the Office of Religious Weblog Expansion is a performative book launch. More than a document, the book ‘AMBIENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS’ is part of a process that involves performance, and instigates another process that seeds the growth of a network of readers. Wherever the book is distributed, a ‘censor station’ will be set up, where a specific 1500-word text in the book is censored by hand before each copy is handed over. The censorship scheme is draconian – only a single word of this text is left uncovered in each book – but it is not completely destructive, since a different word survives in each copy of the edition of 1500. The entire text can thus be read by a collective effort: readers can share their words on the project website.
