Co-presented by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, K11 Art Foundation and Videotage, MICROMÉGAS artist residency has brought the French media artist Théodora Barat to Hong Kong from February to April 2021 to conduct research and produce a new artwork responding to the issue of Globalization. As part of the artistic and cultural exchange, Micromégas: Hong Kong presents a cinema club and artist sharing by Barat at artist residence space V54 in Happy Valley.

Cinema has always been the main reference of Barat’s work. Over the past few years, Barat has devoted more attention to Sci-Fi movies from the 50 to 80s. Apart from the political and philosophical perspectives opened up by this film genre, set elements, lighting and framing are pure artistic proposals, sometimes reminding Minimalism. This Cinema Club presents an outdoor viewing experience in a historic French architectural style house surrounded by modern urban housing elements, discussing how Sci-Fi movies nourish Barat’s work and interact with her research about rural-urban landscape and electricity infrastructure in Hong Kong.

法國駐港澳總領事館、K11 Art Foundation與錄映太奇共同呈獻的「微觀巨世：藝術家駐場計劃」帶來法國藝術家巴拉特（Théodora Barat），於2021年2月至4月期間駐港八星期，並創作其新媒體藝術作品，回應全球化的議題。「微觀巨世：香港」將於跑馬地年青藝術家駐留空間V54，舉辦一場電影俱樂部放映及分享會，作為計劃的藝術與文化交流活動之一。

巴拉特的創作深受電影的啟發。近幾年，她專於研究50至80年代科幻電影。除了政治和哲學面向，當中的場境元素、燈光及取景絕對是各種藝術美學的實踐，有時甚至是極簡主義的呈現。微觀巨世電影俱樂部將在歷史建築法式洋樓與現代城市住宅之中，帶來一場戶外觀映體驗，探討科幻電影對巴拉特創作的影響，以及與她正在進行關於城鄉景觀和電力基建的研究之連繫。
