SPARK Festival 2024, a physical project hosted by the British Council, is held from October 18 to 20, 2024. As part of SPARK 2024, Videotage, in collaboration with Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN) and g39,  is proud to present “Pave Your Path: Sweet Loss”. During the exhibtion, three female artists engages in a joint virtual-physical performance, converging and diverging at different times thematically and spatially, by discourse, spoken word, dialogue and more.

 

 

英國文化協會主辦的實體項目SPARK Festival 2024於2024年10月18至20日舉行。錄映太奇榮幸參與其中，並與Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN)及g39連結四位分別來自香港及英國的三位女性藝術家，於《Pave Your Path: 甜蜜的損失》​​展覽中進行聯合線上現場表演，以獨白、對話及其他形式在主題和空間上交錯。

SPARK Festival 2024, a physical project hosted by the British Council, will be held from October 18 to 20, 2024. As part of SPARK 2024, Videotage in partner with Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN) and g39 will connect seven young artists from Hong Kong and the UK by commissioning new video works for “Pave Your Path: Nearly Viral” and “Pave Your Path: Sweet Loss”.

In Sweet Loss, three female artists: Kwan Q Li from Hong Kong, and Zillah Bowes and Roanna Holmes-Frodsham from Wales, to create three new short films that examine the significance of loss/trauma. The artists will undergo a collaborative research and development period to create a moving image work each that will be shown together, along with a joint live performance lecture.

Sweet Loss will present an interpretation of different aspects of physical and emotional loss/trauma and investigate its transformational possibilities. The collaboration in this way of these three artists will also allow the different cultural landscapes of Hong Kong and the UK to be shown side by side and interweave together.

Drawing from nature, folklore, ritual, psychology, medicine and more, the artists will offer a representation of how loss/trauma may be transformed, or positively experienced, in various ways. Their research and resultant video works will examine the multi-layered and multi-cultural roots of confronting and embracing loss/trauma in physical and emotional processes, and in relationship to nature.

Material from these video works will come together in a collaborative performance lecture. This will include an orchestrated presentation of three videos on different screens by the artists. This will be accompanied by a joint, online live performance in three locations (Hong Kong/UK), converging and diverging at different times thematically and spatially, by discourse, spoken word, dialogue and more.

《Pave Your Path: 甜蜜的損失》​​的三位女性藝術家：來自香港的Kwan Q Li、以及來自威爾斯的Zillah Bowes和Roanna Holmes-Frodsham 創作三部影像作品，探索失去及傷痛的價值。 經過共同研究和構思，她們將展出其影像作品，並於展場合辦現場表演講座。

《甜蜜的損失》​​將呈現對各種生理和情緒創傷的理解，並探討轉化的可能性。三位藝術家的合作展示香港和英國兩地不同的文化面貌，並將兩者互相交織。

藝術家從自然、民俗、儀式、心理學、醫學等領域汲取靈感，展示如何以不同形式轉化，或以樂觀的態度看待創傷。他們的研究和影像作品將探索在不同文化和地域中，以身體和心靈擁抱創傷的方式，以及與自然的關係。影像作品的素材將匯集到一場合作表演講座中，包括在不同螢幕上呈現的三部作品，並將在三個地點（香港和英國）進行聯合線上現場表演，以獨白、對話及其他形式在主題和空間上交錯。
