Chinese-born media artist Chi Jang YIN is best known for her reflective, autobiographical work, which comments upon the state of Chinese culture, past and present. Her video work combines documentary, experimental and narrative disciplines and she often imbues her work with elements from her background in photography and performance art. Through humor and irony, her conceptual work leads to the merging of personal and social statements. Themes of Yin’s work consist of displacement, alienation, the absence of representation, memory in narrative, and individualism reconstructed and intertwined with social and cultural infrastructures.
