Videotage is thrilled to present the screening programme Falling into Place: Rubble and Ripple on May 3 featuring select works from the Videotage Media Art Collection (VMAC). In this two-part screening, the first focuses on repressed individual emotions in dense urban settings while the second explores small histories seldom discussed in grand narratives. Although events have since passed and resolved, associated perceptions are exchanged via sharing and viewing.

More specifically, Rubble (the first part) seeks to unearth individual emotions hidden in a highly regulated city. Steel bars, concrete and glass facades encase the daily hustle and bustle, compressing the same into a rigid yet winding urban contour. Artist images traverse various corners of the city, some venting oppression and anger toward their surroundings while others quietly observe changes and reflect on mundane routines. The screening will feature an interlude piece, titled Ciliary bodies (title t.b.c.), by artist Mark Chung, showcasing aerial views of the Hong Kong cityscape in response to featured works.

The second part, Ripple, focuses on entangled individuals within families, communities, and socio-cultural identities: exploring bodily boundaries, ancestral hometowns and communities along the margins of national territories. Through self-initiated documentation in diverse formats—first-person narration, distant observation, interviews and scenographic design—the artists offer nuanced perspectives of personal and sensory experiences. These stories, often absent from mainstream media, are threaded within larger historical contexts to resist oversimplistic conclusions. A post-screening discussion inviting artists to share insights behind their work follows each part of the programme.

錄映太奇將於5月3日舉辦放映節目《落定之後：迴光 / 未滅》，精選自錄映太奇媒體藝術庫藏（VMAC）的作品。是次放映分為上下兩部分：上半部聚焦於密集都市中無處宣洩的個人情感；下半部則探討在歷史敘述中鮮有提及的小歷史。儘管塵埃落定，感知仍能在分享與理解之間再度交流。

上半部《迴光》挖掘在高度規訓的都市中被掩蓋的個體情感。鋼筋、混凝土和玻璃幕牆將日復日的奔波勞碌層層包裹，壓縮成筆直且蜿蜒的城市輪廓。藝術家的影像穿梭於不同角落，有表達對周遭的鬱悶與怒憤，有靜觀變化，亦有反思尋常的生活軌跡。放映將搭配本地藝術家鍾正的幕間創作《Ciliary bodies (title t.b.c.)》，展示香港高空的城市景觀，映照各個影像作品。

下半部《未滅》關注個人與家庭、族群及社會文化的糾纏，探討身體邊界、家庭故鄉，與兩國疆域間的邊緣社群。藝術家自發進行記錄，透過第一人稱敍事、遠距離觀察、訪談和情景設計等方式，細膩展現個體的經驗感知，將主流媒體少有提及的故事置於歷史脈絡中，拒卻簡化的論述總結。放映結束後將設有映後談，邀請藝術家分享作品背後的考思。
