Basically we only ever have one reason for going to certain places and that is to satisfy our inner longings. Those of the young estate agent and the man looking for accommodation seem clear. He wants to move to the suburbs to get away from life in the city and she wants to earn money. But the new Happy Valley residential district on the outskirts of Hong Kong becomes an area for the projection of much more personal longings of a very different kind and a fateful place for both the young city dwellers – assuming they actually meet.
