Both Sides Now V: Artist Residency – Rob Crosse
Rob Crosse is a residency artist under Both Sides Now V, the fifth edition of a long term project partnered between Videotage (HK) and videoclub (UK) and for the 2019 edition, with Eaton HK in presenting contemporary and historical films and video works from the UK, Hong Kong and China, curated by Isaac Leung and Jamie Wyld.
Both Sides Now V and Eaton HK are co-hosting the residency and co-presenting a public program with a screening and artist conversation by Rob Crosse at Eaton House’s cinema, Kino. Drew on an on-going research about intergenerational desire by Crosse, the screening would explore ideas of duty and care within the power structure of an older / younger relationship with references to past / present historical perspectives. After the screening, Crosse will talk about queer art practices in the artist conversation. Rob Crosse is conducting his research from 1 – 31 March in Hong Kong and staying in Eaton HK’s dedicated residency accommodation.
Rob Crosse completed his MFA in Fine Arts at the Slade School of Fine Art. Recent exhibitions include Solo Presentations (2018), Jerwood, London; Prime Time (2017) Grundy, Blackpool, and Clear as a bell (2016), Kingsgate Projects, London. His films have been screened as part of Different Ways, Lux, London, Transactions of desire, Institute of Contemporary Art, London, Slant : for the unsettling, Jerwood Space London, These Rotten Words, Chapter House, Cardiff, and Artist Film Weekender, HOME, Manchester. He has completed residencies at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Nebraska, U.S.A; Katara Art Center, Doha, Qatar; Foundation Marcelino Botin, Santander Spain and Woodmill, London.

Rob Crosse是彼岸觀自在V的駐留藝術家。彼岸觀自在V為錄映太奇（香港）與videoclub（英國）合作的長期項目，由梁學彬和Jamie Wyld共同策劃，展示英國、香港和中國當代和歷史電影及錄像作品。
彼岸觀自在V與Eaton HK 攜手合辦是次駐留計劃，亦於Kino @ Eaton House舉辦一場由Rob Crosse所創作的放映和藝術家分享會。從Crosse正在進行關於跨代慾望的研究出發，借鑒過去/現在的歷史觀點，探討老年/年輕關係的權力結構中的責任和關懷的理念。藝術家分享會將在放映後舉行，圍繞酷兒藝術實踐的主題進行對話。
Rob Crosse在1985年於英國赫特福德郡出生，在倫敦生活和工作。Crosse在般尼茅夫藝術學院學習純藝術攝影，發展出創作意念及對當代藝術的理解。雖然作為攝影師，但他同時使用錄像和裝置作藝術實踐。 Crosse的作品曾在布賴頓的Light House、赫特福德郡的Maynard Gallery以及般尼茅夫的幾個場地展出。
